Ambulatory phlebectomy is a microsurgical procedure designed to remove secondary varicose veins. Performed on an outpatient basis in the physician’s office under local anesthesia, a series of small avulsions are made in the skin adjacent to the vein; the diseased veins are then removed in segments. The skin is closed with surgical glue -  sutures are not required. There is little to no permanent scarring. A bandage is placed on the incision sites and leg. Compression hose are worn post-operatively for three weeks. Patients typically return to work the following day.  Recovery is quick and relatively painless achieving outstanding cosmetic results. *Covered by insurance providers.
